What is a defibrillator?
A heart defibrillator is a life-saving medical device that delivers an electric shock to the heart to stop a chaotic rhythm (like ventricular fibrillation) and allow a normal heartbeat to restart during sudden cardiac arrest, with Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) providing voice prompts for anyone to use, even without training. These devices, including implantable versions (ICDs), correct dangerous arrhythmias and significantly improve survival chances in emergencies, acting quickly to reset the heart’s electrical system.
